Leiva and Marks, P.L.C. Attorneys at Law

Today I had the opportunity to meet and photograph the fine folks at Leiva and Marks. We took lots of great shots they hope to integrate into their website in the near future. The handsome young man in the back is Brian Glass, my nephew, who joined the firm after passing the bar this past fall.

The gentleman on the right is David Marks. About 34 years ago (I was 12, he was about 2) my mother provided day care for he and his older brother in her home in Annandale. My only memory of him was getting in trouble for teasing him until he cried and that he had lots of curly hair. Manuel Leiva is on the left.

Who new my brother Ben still knew how to rock? Or knew in the first place for that matter. I'm sure his Billy Joel and Linda Ronstadt albums are still getting a workout. Tribute to My Uncle

Last weekend my wife, Laura, and I traveled to Richmond to visit my dear Uncle Charles D. Curley Jr., Major-USAR R-Retired, and have lunch. Charles is my mother's oldest brother, father of 5, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather as well. He is also a World War II veteran and fought in Europe as a 2nd Lieutenant (Rifle Platoon Leader) with the 38th Infantry Regiment, Second Indianhead Division. He landed in Normandy on D-Day +1 and fought his way through to Czechoslovakia. He has many, many stories to share of that time. To listen to him is a fascinating trip through history. And for anyone fortunate enough to know Charles, plan on setting aside some time when you engage him in those stories :)

Charles is also the author of "How a Ninety-Day Wonder Survived the War;" a book of his memoirs. Don't bother looking for it on Amazon or Borders, it's out of print, a rare find, and worth every effort to find one and read it. He may have a few left.

These photographs are my tribute to this wonderful man and I cannot think of a photo I have taken that makes me more proud.

A Walk Through Vienna

Last fall I had the opportunity to accompany the OLGC 1st grade on a walking field trip through our wonderful town of Vienna. We visited the Mayor, Jane Seeman, the men in blue, the fire department, and that fine old establishment know as the Vienna Inn. Enjoy.
