Washington National Cathedral

Well after 40 some years I finally made it down to the Washington National Cathedral while chaperoning my son's recent field trip. What an amazing place. A photographer could get lost for hours with so much to see and shoot. I definitely need to travel back there on my own time......tripod in hand. Here are just a few of many from the day. Enjoy. There are many alters throughout the Cathedral. Most interesting about this one is that its a mini alter with mini chairs for small children.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day

Hope everyone had a great day. Would you believe I didn't have a St. Pat's themed pic to post. So I stole my sister's. Thanks Eileen! She took this at the Parade in Old Town just last weekend. She is a bit of a shutter bug herself and getting better all the time. She has inspired me to dig up my honeymoon slides. Many years ago (16) my wife and I toured the Southwest Coast of Ireland on bikes only. When I think back I have to sigh and think how ambitious that was. We went for 2 weeks...no car...no kidding....and on our honeymoon! I've got some great shots here somewhere buried in my office. I'll have to see what I can find and share some in the coming days.

Trying out the Canon 50mm f1.4 Prime

This week I treated myself to a new 50mm fast lens in an effort to improve my indoor basketball shots. I think I'm getting closer. So far I have no complaints. Love it. As with my Canon 70-200mm zoom the shallow depth of field can be a challenge. In a good way. Makes me work harder.
