Fun on Jockey's Ridge

If you've ever been down on the Outer Banks, then Jockey's Ridge State Park is a must on your things-to-do list. An after dinner trek up the largest sand dune on the east coast will reward you with majestic views of the Sound and Ocean, then join in the fun running, jumping and rolling in the biggest sand box you've ever been in. Its a hoot.

You can only sit there so long before launching yourself down the slope.

And always seems to end with a beautiful sun set.

Currituck Sound

One of my favorites from last week's family trip to Duck, NC. So many cool places to shoot, so little time when your creating quality time with the family. It was a great trip. Click the picture for a larger view.

See more gallery prints by clicking HERE.

I snapped this little guy with my Canon SD1000 "point and shoot" set on macro and tweaked in Adobe Lightroom.

Whalehead Club, Currituck NC

Art show at the Whalehead Club today. Came across this fancy bike...er.....motorcycle. Not quite sure what it was. Talked to a lady about selling some pics to the Whalehead Club gift shop. We'll see.

Happy Father's Day

Greetings from the Outer Banks, NC. This is one of my favorite places to shoot. Nothing like lots of family and good cheer. We are here for the week. Let's see what I can come up with. This beautiful photo above is my brother-in-law, Andrew, and son Thomas. Andrew and my sister Eileen are expecting their 7th child. Whew! I get tired just thinking about it.

Extreme Makeover

The elephant house at the National Zoo is getting an extreme makeover. I plan to take this same shot in a couple of years to show the end result.

Invertebrates

My kids are in Zoo Camp this week at the National Zoo. This is the first time I've ever been where I was allowed to walk the park on my own. So I challenged myself to get off the main path and explore the many side trips the zoo has to offer.

Here I submerged my Canon 40D to get these underwater shots. Just kidding. These were in an aquarium and I used my 50mm prime lens with natural light.

What could be truer than a teenager and her cellphone. :)

Saint Pat's Doorway

I thought this doorway looked out of place yet very cool in between office buildings on 10th Street in DC. This is the entryway to Saint Patrick's Church.

Obama's Ride

A rare opportunity presented itself today. A friend of the family offered us a back door tour of the basement garage where they keep The Presidential Motorcade. We jumped at the chance and it was worth the effort. Obama's primary vehicle is, without a doubt, a pretty sweet ride.

All the kids had to get in on the photo op.

Many thanks to Special Agent Sean #%$^* (that's a secret code for I can't tell you) for providing us the opportunity for tour.

On our way out we bumped into Whoopi Goldberg.

And finished with lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Firehouse

Out on the town with the Tiger Scouts of Pack 976, I managed to sneak in a few HDR shots of the Firehouse and trucks. Boys had a great time. Many thanks to the fine men and women who treated us to a tour of the Dunn Loring Fire Department #13 in Northern Virginia.

A Bit-O-Shade

Kids are darn smart. It was a full sunny day at the soccer field. Yearning to see his LCD screen on his Nintendo DS, my son found the only spot of shade in the stadium at Marshall High School.
